Give us This Day Our Daily Bread….

Homemade bread

Our Father, which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory, For ever and ever.

                                                                                                              Amen.                                                                                                                           - The Lord’s Prayer

….The Bible has mentioned bread more than a handful of times. Such as: Unleavened bread, Stale bread from the temple, Manna (bread from Heaven), and etc.

Jesus said:

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matt 4:4

Needles to say, it is plain that bread is one of the staples in most people’s diet.

If you want to eat more efficiently (eat more food in less time) and with more value for money, then carry out this test:

Buy a loaf of white bread, and make a loaf of (at least part) whole-wheat.

Sit on the white loaf. And sit on the whole-meal loaf. And make your decision. :) You will notice the white loaf turning into a pancake (it is basically all air anyway)!

We (the three older girls) make bread everyday with this recipe. American Sandwich Bread….

Yea, I know. We don’t even use a “Kiwi” recipe!

We double/triple/quadruple/quintuple, the recipe frequently. We also change the recipe to half whole wheat and half white flour.

  • If the dough feels heavy, and “going-to-be-a-failier…” Then turn it into buns or cinnamon rolls! It works.
  • Bread rises better on cloudless days.

I just made a batch of bread early this morning. Oh, and the American Sandwich Bread recipe is SUPER easy to make!

Happy Bread-wafting-aromas!

  1. That’s funny! We always figure that the bread rises best on cloudy/rainy days! Hmm…maybe it rises best on cloudless and rainy days? :) Funny to think about, anyway.

I love the “experiment”. :D I don’t know who would actually try it, though! ;) We usually call all store-bought bread “balloon bread”–you have to eat so much more to actually fill up! :) It’s fun to have once in a long while, though. :)
